Senate win likely dependent on Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania: Axios
A Washington Post opinion poll reveals that Republican candidates may refuse to acknowledge electoral results in the coming elections.
Axios news website ruled out that the Republicans would win the upcoming midterm elections, pointing out that "they're well-positioned to comfortably win back" the House of Representatives.
The website pointed out that although the inflation in the United States is exacerbating, President Joe Biden celebrated the Inflation Reduction Act on the same day the stock market plunged over 1,200 points, "prompting ridicule from Republicans who see inflation as their top campaign issue."
According to Axios, "Republicans hold momentum in several key Senate races, most notably in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia," noting that "Control of the Senate will likely come down to three races: Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania."
In early September, US President Joe Biden bashed former US President Donald Trump and "MAGA Republicans," warning that they "pose a clear and present danger" to US democracy.
MAGA is an acronym for "Make America great again" – a slogan from Trump’s 2016 election campaign.
Republicans may refuse to acknowledge election results
It is noteworthy that dozens of Republican candidates in competitive races have refused to say whether they will accept the results of their contests, raising the prospect of new post-election chaos.
The results of a Washington Post poll done in 19 US states showed that only seven Republican Party candidates would acknowledge the results in their races, while 12 either would refuse to acknowledge the results or refused to respond.
On the other hand, the poll found that 18 Democratic Party candidates would accept the results, while only one candidate did not respond.
