Several nations considering tank deliveries to Ukraine: Senior US official
Amid Ukraine's pleads for more assistance, the Netherlands, Germany, and the EU are considering sending more, including tanks.
Many countries are considering the delivery of tanks to Ukraine, as per a senior US defense official.
"As far as I know, there are several nations that are considering that [tank deliveries to Ukraine]. And some tanks by some nations have been delivered to Ukraine. These are tanks that they know how to use - largely T-72s," the official told reporters.
On Saturday, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell said that the Ukrainian conflict will end on the battlefield, pledging an additional 500 million euros ($543 million) from the European Peace Facility to Kiev.
The Netherlands, Germany, and EU to send more money, arms to Ukraine
On Monday, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said that following the talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the two EU countries were working together to send money and military assistance to Ukraine.
"Germany and the Netherlands are working together within EU and NATO to support Ukraine with financial, diplomatic, and humanitarian assistance, and with military goods," he said on social media.
In the same context, the EU foreign ministers agreed to keep sending military assistance to Kiev, amid concerns of increased hostilities in the east of the country, Borrell said following a meeting of the EU Foreign Council in Luxembourg.
"As you know, we have mobilized more funding from European peace facility and we are ready to continue supporting Ukraine on the military side," he said.
