SPA Slams Settlement with Military Authority
The Sudanese Professionals Association slams any possibility of a settlement with the military authority and calls for a 'revolutionary front'.
The Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA) slammed any settlement with the military authority, asserting that the only way to overthrow it is through a transitional civilian authority.
In a statement, the SPA confirmed it was not part of any political settlement in Sudan.
“We are not part of any calls for settlement or going back. Rather, we consider these calls a betrayal of the revolution and the people,” SPA said.
The activist group called for "the formation of a wide revolutionary front to bring down the coup," in addition to the formation of a transitional civilian authority.
This comes after the new Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council pledged Sunday to form a civilian government within days during its first session.
The newly-formed council mentioned that in a statement, a few days after its members were sworn in Friday before Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and judiciary chief Abdel-Aziz Fath al-Rahman Abdeen.
