Spanish PM slams world's 'indifference' to 'Israel's' Lebanon invasion
Pedro Sanchez has condemned "Israel’s" attempted invasion of Lebanon.
Pedro Sanchez, Spain's Prime Minister, has denounced "Israel's" [attempted] invasion of Lebanon, stating that the international community cannot "remain indifferent" to it.
The socialist leader told the Spanish parliament that the international community cannot remain passive to the obvious invasion of a sovereign nation like Lebanon.
"We denounced (this situation) in Ukraine, we also denounce it in Gaza and now we are also denouncing the invasion of Lebanon," he said.
Since February 2022, Spain has led the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), stationing 650 troops at the southern Lebanese border with occupied Palestine.
Sanchez has been one of the most outspoken European critics of "Israel's" war on Gaza, calling the number of Palestinians killed "truly unbearable" and expressing "genuine doubts" about whether "Israel" is following international humanitarian law.
The country has frozen military sales to the occupation and is seeking to rally other European cities around the concept of acknowledging a Palestinian state.
Hezbollah repels two Israeli attempts to enter Lebanese towns
