SPD Wins German Elections: Preliminary Results
The Social Democratic Party of Germany narrowly won the German general election with 25.7% of the votes.

The SPD narrowly won against the conservative Christian Democratic Union of Germany, who won 24.1% of the votes. The results were presented on the website of the country's election commission website.
The preliminary results are based on the ballots counted in all constituencies, and they are the worst results yet for the CDU-CSU bloc. The CDU-CSU is a conservative bloc led by Armin Laschet, and he was chosen to succeed Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The Green Party, or Grüne, a center-left alliance, came in third place with 14.8% of the votes, followed by the liberal FDP with 11.5%. The far-right Alternative for Germany came in fifth with 10.3%.
