Special Polls Open for 1M+ Iraqis
The Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq announces that it is fully prepared for the legislative elections as the special election process starts in Iraq.
Iraqi electors included in the "special early vote" started casting their votes Friday, two days ahead of the legislative elections.
The early polls involved nearly 1.2 million citizens and included members of the security forces, prisoners, and the displaced.
The Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq announced it was fully ready for the election, revealing that 12 UN teams will participate in monitoring the special election process.
The Joint Operations Command announced that it would not allow for any security breach or chaos during the election, asserting that everything regarding the special election process is going according to plan.
The airforce is participating in securing the election through reconnaissance flights, the Iraqi security media cell reported.
Iraq is ready to the fullest for the special elections, the spokesman to the electoral commission Joumana al-Ghalay said, revealing that all the necessary equipment has been distributed to the polling station.
The camps for displaced people all over the country are fully prepared for the elections. The preparations were carried out under local, EU, and UN supervision.
