Sudan Doctors Committee: 40 Killed in Protests So Far
A young man was martyred, having been shot by live ammunition in his head and feet during the protests against the decisions of Sudanese Army Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
The Sudan Doctors Committee announced Saturday that the number of those killed in protests against the decisions taken by the Sudanese Army's Commander-in-Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has increased to 40.
The committee published a statement on Facebook, wherein it said a new young man was martyred today: Mohammad Adam Haroun, 16, who was martyred as a result of serious injuries to his head and legs.
The head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, had declared a state of emergency on October 25 and announced the dissolution of the Sovereign Council and the government.
Al-Burhan said the army would continue the "democratic transition until power is handed over to an elected civilian government," noting that there's a need for the army to protect the security and safety of the country as stipulated in the constitution.
These developments took place as the military's command over the Sovereign Council neared its end, in accordance with the constitutional agreement signed in 2019, following the coup that toppled former President Omar al-Bashir.
