Syria Denounces Potential Increase of Settlers in Occupied Golan
The residents of the occupied Golan Heights protested Israeli intentions to increase settler numbers on their lands.
Syria strongly condemned the statements of the Israeli occupation’s Prime Minister on increasing the number of Zionist settlers in the occupied Syrian Golan, an official source in the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed.
The source considered that such hostile statements and policies will not change the eternal truth that Golan was and will always be Arab and Syrian, adding that it will inevitably return to its motherland sooner or later.
According to Israeli media agencies, Housing Minister in the Israeli occupation government, Ze'ev Elkin, will later announce in a Makor Rishon magazine press conference the construction of new settlements in Golan Heights, saying it is a significantly important and strategic area, and the increase of residents will boost its power and help update the necessary infrastructure to develop the settlements.
The "Israel" Today paper had stated that 20 Israeli families live in moveable houses in the settlement declared in June 2019, a decision made by former PM Benjamin Netanyahu's government. This came after US President Donald Trump confessed the Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan, which pushed the Netanyahu government to name a settlement after US President Donald Trump.
In the meantime, the occupied Syrian Golan organized a protest in Mas’ada on Monday, to reject the settlement plans of the Israeli occupation on their land, insisting on their resistance in the face of the occupation attempts to forcefully displace them.
