Syrian President Bashar al-Assad authorizes his former Information Technology Minister to form a new cabinet.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has authorized former Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mohammad Ghazi Jalali, to form a new cabinet, the presidential palace announced on Saturday.
In an official statement, the palace declared, "President Bashar Assad has issued a decree empowering Mohammad Ghazi Jalali to form a new cabinet."
Jalali, a graduate of civil engineering, previously served as the Minister of Communications from 2014 to 2016. More recently, he has held the role of the president of the Syrian Private University, a position he assumed in September 2023.
The upcoming government will mark Syria's 96th 1918 and the ninth formed during al-Assad's presidency.
Back in March, al-Assad issued Decree No. 91 of 2023 on a cabinet reshuffle that includes five ministers.
