Syria says US still plundering oil, urges it to stop backing terror
Syria says the United States is vastly looting its resources and urges it to stop backing terrorist groups.
Syria demands that the United States stop supporting terrorism and separatist groups and immediately leave Syrian territories, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
"Syria also demands that the United States stop supporting terrorism and separatist groups and immediately leave the occupied Syrian territories," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, the US forces deployed in Syria continued smuggling oil out of the country in recent weeks.
Damascus urged the United States to pay compensation to the Syrian people in light of the behemoth amount of resources siphoned out of the country.
Syrian state news agency SANA reported earlier in April, citing local sources, that US occupation forces were seen escorting 32 trucks filled with Syrian oil to Iraq.
"A convoy belongs to US occupation consisting of 77 vehicles, including 32 tankers filled with stolen oil from the Syrian fields, in addition to six military armored vehicles headed through the illegitimate al-Walid crossing [in the province of Al-Hasakah] towards the US occupation bases in Iraqi territory," the sources told the news agency.
Even after the February 6 earthquake devastated several cities across the country, the US continue to loot oil from Syrian territories under US occupation.
US troops claim to be occupying the area in order to rid the region of terrorists, yet the US has strategically implanted itself there for the purposes of stealing Syria's natural resources as well as destabilizing President Bashar Al-Assad's government.
It was also reported days earlier that the areas where the US occupation forces are deployed in cooperation with US-backed SDF militia dealt with widespread looting of Syrian archaeological sites in the war-torn country’s Jazira region.
Local sources in the western countryside of Qamishli confirmed to SANA that the US occupation forces, which have been stationed on the Tell Mozan side, have intensified the theft of ancient Syrian artifacts.
US occupation troops have also expanded the areas they unlawfully label as "prohibited military zones," subjecting them to strict security measures to easily smuggle the artifacts they looted to unidentified destinations.
The report further highlighted that the US forces occupy some of the most significant archaeological sites in the world, including Tell Baidar, Al-Hamma area, the Life Stone, Tell Mozan, and a series of hills in the eastern countryside of Qamishli.
Armed SDF members also took a priceless statue from the town of Qasrok in the countryside of Al-Ya'rubiyah and moved it to an unidentified destination, as per the report.
In early March, the US House of Representatives voted against legislation instructing Biden to end the US occupation of the Syrian Al-Tanf region and remove approximately 900 troops.
Currently, the US army and other foreign forces, participating in the so-called "International Coalition", occupy no less than 28 declared military sites in Syria, distributed over three governorates: Al-Hasakah (17 sites), Deir Ezzor (nine sites), and Homs (two sites).
