Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi highlighted that his two-day visit to Syria was a turning point in the expansion of economic, trade, political, and security relations between the two countries.

During a press conference upon his arrival in Tehran after his visit, Raisi stressed that "this trip was a gesture of paying respect to the resistance of the Syrian people and government against the brutal attacks carried out by the enemies."

The Iranian President indicated that Iran and Syria have common grounds for exchanging and cooperating with each other in order to enhance the level of economic and trade relations.

Among the main topics of the 15 cooperation documents that were signed between the two countries was cooperation in the field of energy production and distribution, facilitating economic and commercial cooperation by establishing a joint bank, as well as reducing trade tariffs between the two countries to zero.

According to Raisi, strengthening and expanding transit between Iran, Iraq and Syria, and Iran's assistance to revive Syria's agricultural, industrial, and energy capacities after the war was also discussed.

Touching on the implementation of bilateral agreements, the Iranian President indicated that "the implementation of the agreements started in Syria itself, and the Iranian officials started the implementation work in contact with the officials inside the country."

"We hope that these agreements will be implemented and become effective as soon as possible," he added.

The Iranian President said that the peoples of the region believe that Iran is a solid pillar that can be trusted and relied on.

Elsewhere, Raisi thanked the Syrian government and people for the warm hospitality and expressed hope that the trip will strengthen the relations between Iran and Syria and would strengthen the resistance front as well.
