Syria: Damascus condemns US, West 'hysterical' campaigns against Russia
The Syrian Foreign Ministry denounces the escalation campaigns against Russia, and says the West has "no right to talk about the international law and the breach of charters."
Syria's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Sunday "the hysterical escalation campaigns of the US and the West" against Russia, a ministry source told Syrian news agency SANA.
The source pointed out that "The Syrian Arab Republic affirms that Russia has the full right to defend itself and keep imminent danger away from its people in the face of attempts by the West and the United States to threaten its national security and target its stability."
He noted that the US and its Western allies are aiming to "distort facts, inflame the situation and continue crises to maintain their hegemony over the world."
"Western countries, led by America, which used to break laws and killed millions of innocent people in their wars, starting with the Korean War, through Vietnam, to Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, have no right to talk about the international law and the breach of charters," he underscored.
The Syrian official emphasized that "it is the duty of all countries to stand up to the Western policies led by the US, which have become a serious threat to international peace and security."
Al-Assad supports Russia's special military operation
It is noteworthy that the Kremlin reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had called Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing his support for the Russian military operation to protect civilians in the Donbass region.
Al-Assad condemned the destabilizing policy of the US and NATO, "which once led to a serious degradation of the situation in the Middle East," the Kremlin said in a statement.
It is noteworthy that on Thursday, following "Israel's" official statement of support for Ukraine amid the ongoing crisis, and its condemnation of Russia, Moscow's UN envoy voiced concern over "Israel's" expansion in the Occupied Golan, stressing that Russia doesn't recognize "Israel's" sovereignty over the Occupied Golan Heights that are part of Syria.
