Syria: 5 family members killed by armed gunmen in Daraa
Five people from the Al-Atma family were killed by gunmen's fire in the city of Daraa, including the former Secretary of the Baath Party branch in the city.
Former Secretary of the Baath Party branch in the city of Daraa in southern Syria, Kamal Al-Atma, and four other members of the Al-Atma family were killed in an attack that targeted civilians in a house in the city of Al-Sanamayn, north of Daraa, on Monday night.
According to the Daraa Police Command, the "gunmen attacked a group of civilians in the house of the head of the Al-Sanamayn Agriculture Department, yesterday evening, which led to serious injuries, after which they were transferred to the military hospital in Al-Sanamayn."
The police further added that "five of the injured were martyred, while two women were injured."
Earlier this month, an Al Mayadeen correspondent reported the killing of a number of civilians and soldiers in a terrorist attack on a passenger bus in the countryside of Raqqa on Al-Zamla road within Jabal Al-Bishri.
Moreover, last December, Alaa Daifallah Al-Aboud, the mayor of Al-Naima municipality, was assassinated in the eastern countryside of Daraa by targeting his car with an explosive device, after the failure of the first assassination attempt. This shows a pattern of aggression against civilians in zones where militias and mercenaries continue to unlawfully hold power.
