Official Syrian sources on Friday reported power outages in many provinces. Syria's SANA news agency also quoted the Syrian Electricity Minister Ghassan al-Zamil as saying that the blackout is caused by an attack on one of the Deir Ali power plant's gas pipelines, which led to the shut down of its operations. Technical teams are working to fix the malfunction, and electricity will be restored as soon as the issue is addressed.

Syrian official TV reported from private sources that in addition to this attack on one of the Plant's gas pipelines, there was also an attempt to sabotage two electricity pylons in the Damascus Countryside.

Most Syrian provinces had witnessed a blackout outside the normal power rationing hours. The Electricity Ministry had also reported that investigations are ongoing to find out the reasons, which were at the time unknown.
