Syrian air defenses intercept an Israeli aggression on Latakia Port
Several explosions rocked Latakia Governorate, the official Syrian News Agency SANA reported.
The official Syrian news agency SANA reported, early Tuesday, that huge explosions were heard across Latakia Governorate.
"Around 1:23 am today (23:23 GMT Monday), the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with several missiles," SANA news agency quoted a military source as saying. The attack targeted the port's container yard, causing a number of containers to burn, but no casualties were reported.
"Our air defenses repelled the Israeli aggression in Latakia," the source confirmed.
Latakia Governor Amer Ismail Hilal told SANA, “The firefighting teams were able to put out the fires that broke out in the port's container yard as a result of the Israeli aggression and are currently working to cool the site."
On November 24, the Israeli occupation forces had carried out an air aggression with bursts of missiles from the direction of the northeast of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, targeting certain locations in the central region.
Earlier, the Syrian air defenses intercepted an Israeli air aggression on Damascus, targeting a non-residential building with rockets south of the capital, with no casualties reported.
It is noteworthy that Syria has repeatedly called on the UN Security Council and the United Nations to condemn the repetitive Israeli aggressions against it, demanding firm measures to prevent its recurrence.
