A  statement issued by the Syrian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday stated that Syria strongly condemns the US' reckless and provocative policy against the People's Republic of China.

The Ministry commented on Pelosi's intent to visit as "an act of hostility which violates international law and shows no respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the People’s Republic of China."

The statement added that the US was responsible for threatening international security and destabilizing the region. 

The Foreign Ministry stressed that Syria abides by the "One China Principle", and fully supports the position of the People's Republic of China in opposing US Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit.

It underscored full and unfettered support for Chinese efforts and principled stances in facing foreign intervention in its domestic affairs, either in Taiwan, Hong Kong, or Xinjiang.

The ministry reiterated its support for China's indisputable right to take the proper measures it deems relevant to preserve its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

US Speaker Nancy Pelosi landed in Taipei today evening despite repetitive warnings from Chinese authorities that Pelosi's visit will be met with severe consequences. 

More is yet to come as further events unfold on the Island of Taiwan.
