In a reiteration of the rejection of the West arming Taiwan, the Chinese Embassy in the United States demanded Washington to stop arming Taiwan, stressing that China reserves its right to respond to any foreign meddling.

The Taiwan issue is absolutely different from that surrounding Ukraine, the Chinese Embassy in Washington told Sputnik on Friday.

US officials are misleading people by drawing parallels between the two, Kiev and Taipei, Beijing's Embassy said, explaining that Taiwan was an "inalienable" part of China's territory.

"[...] the Taiwan question is entirely China's internal affair. The Taiwan question and the Ukraine issue are different in nature and are not comparable at all," Spokesperson Liu Pengyu said.

He went on to accuse Washington of colluding with Taipei, stressing that certain individuals deliberately drew a parallel between Taiwan and Ukraine "despite the two being fundamentally different issues."

He concluded by telling Sputnik that the goal of this parallelism was "to mislead the public and profit from that."

The West, mainly the United States and the United Kingdom, have pledged to arm Taiwan as they have been Ukraine.

China has come out with a statement of condemnation toward the vows. Beijing stressed that sending weapons to Taiwan supports separatism and contradicts their recognition of China.

"We deplore and reject Secretary Blinken’s statement at a congressional hearing on April 26 that the administration is determined to make sure that Taiwan has all necessary means to defend itself against any potential aggression," Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs information department chief Xie Yongjun, said Thursday.

In a reiteration of the rejection of the West arming Taiwan, the Chinese Embassy in the United States said Washington should stop arming Taiwan, stressing that China reserved the right to respond to any foreign meddling.

"Currently, there is a new wave of tension across the Taiwan Strait. The root cause is that the authorities in Taiwan keep pushing for the independence agenda by soliciting US support and that some in the US attempt to use Taiwan to contain China," Pengyu said.

The Spokesperson called for the reunification of China, stressing that this would happen.

"We will strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with utmost sincerity and efforts. That being said, we reserve the option of taking all necessary measures in response to the interference of foreign forces and the secessionist activities of a handful of 'Taiwan independence' separatists," he explained.

The diplomat also called on Washington to abide by the one-China policy and the principles outlined in the China-US joint communiqué.

"The US should... cut off official interactions and military ties with Taiwan, stop arms sales to Taiwan and take concrete actions to fulfill its commitment of not supporting 'Taiwan independence'," he stressed.
