Taliban spokesperson denies claims involving Afghans in Kazakh unrest
The Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid says the allegations that the Afghans were involved in the Kazakhstan unrest of January are untrue.
Claims that the Afghans are involved in the recent unrest in Kazakhstan are not true, according to Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid on Wednesday.
"Some media outlets quote the words of Russian officials that the Afghans also took part in Kazakhstan's unrest. We strongly deny the allegations that the Islamic Emirate allows anyone to use the territory of Afghanistan against any other country or interfere in the affairs of other states, with no evidence being provided," the spokesperson tweeted.

The unrest and the CSTO assistance
Early in January, thousands of demonstrators took to the street to protest against the surging gas prices in the Central Asian nation. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev then declared a state of emergency in the west of the country and Almaty.
The protests shortly took a violent turn, and President Tokayev appealed to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for help in quelling protests across the country, which he said were led by "terrorist gangs".
The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, said back then that his country survived an attempted coup and declared a state of emergency in the west of the country and Almaty, in light of demonstrations over surging gas prices.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that foreign militants, including those from the Middle East and Afghanistan, participated in the aggression against Kazakhstan.
Less than a week after the protests began, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the mission of the Russian-led peacekeeping troops in Kazakhstan would soon come to an end.
Three days after President Putin's announcement, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the first units of the Russian landing forces within the CSTO forces left Alma-Ata airport to their point of permanent deployment.
