Tebboune: Local Elections Will Be Held If Health Situation Improves
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announces that preparations for local elections are underway and calls on Algerians to turn the harsh ordeal that the Algerians have experienced into an opportunity for national unity.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced that preparations for local elections are underway, stressing that they will take place in November if the health situation in the country improves.
In a message on the occasion of the double anniversary of the Soummam Conference and the attacks in northern Constantine, President Tebboune stressed that from the upcoming elections "provincial and municipal bodies will emerge, which will keep pace with the development in the most effective and efficient manner."
Tebboune said that the "terrible catastrophe", which the country recently went through as a result of the fires and the severe damages they left, has demonstrated the Algerian's people "cohesion and the firmness of the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity, which has always distinguished them in times of adversity."
He also called on the Algerians to turn this harsh ordeal into an opportunity to strengthen national unity.
It is worth noting that legislative elections were held in Algeria last June, and Mohamed Charfi, Head of the National Independent Elections Authority, announced that the turnout reached 30.20%.
