Tehran announces backing Chinese proposal to solve crisis in Ukraine
Iran says the points in the Chinese peace proposal are enough to start negotiations to end the military activities between Russia and Ukraine.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Sunday that Tehran supports China's proposal to solve the crisis in Ukraine.
Tehran stated that it "believes that the points contained in the Chinese proposal are sufficient to start negotiations to end military activities."
This comes as a response to the proposal announced by Beijing after a tour by its Central Foreign Affairs Office Director Wang Yi in Europe, Russia, and other countries, with the aim of helping find a peaceful solution to the conflict between Russia and the West in Ukraine.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry affirmed that Tehran expresses its respect for the Russian and Ukrainian peoples and affirms its neutral position. The ministry renewed its condemnation of the United States and a number of Western countries' unilateralism that dates back to the Cold War era.
In addition, the ministry renewed its offer to participate in a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ukraine.
Last Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the US response to the Chinese proposal, saying that ideas for establishing peace in Ukraine were shattered due to the US desire to continue hostilities until disintegrating Russia and then focusing on containing China. The comment came in a statement following talks between the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi in Moscow.
