Tehran slams G7 anti-Iran accusations as 'unfounded'
The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson rejects the G7's statement in which they accused Iran of transferring drones to Russia for use in Ukraine.
Iranian Foreign Ministry stated, on Monday, that Tehran strongly condemned the final statement of the G7 summit, which includes unfounded accusations.
The remarks were made by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani who also highlighted that his country rejects false accusations about its peaceful nuclear program.
"As we have emphasized many times, Iran's nuclear program has only peaceful purposes and nuclear weapons have no place in our defense doctrine," Kanaani said.
The top Iranian diplomat regarded the JCPOA as an important multilateral diplomatic accomplishment that inopportunely suffered serious damage due to the illegal withdrawal of the United States and the inaction of the European parties following the US move.
The aim of G7 leaders to follow Security Council Resolution 2231 demonstrates these nations' conflicting policies, he said, stressing that they are the biggest offenders of JCPOA.
Kanaani stressed that Iran has always complied with its international obligations and is determined to continue its constructive cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency within the framework of the NPT and the safeguards agreement.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he urged countries not to interfere in the technical cooperation between Iran and IAEA by pressuring the organization.
He further denounced the G7 leaders for exploiting the issue of human rights against Tehran.

Rather than making unsubstantiated charges, Kanaani stated that these nations should be held accountable for the systemic violation of Iranians' human rights, most notably women and children, by implementing brutal, unilateral, and unlawful sanctions.
For decades, the hegemonic policies of some G7 states have plagued the world, most notably West Asia, with insecurity and instability, he said.
However, these countries accuse Iran of destabilization, he tersely stated.
"Maritime security in the Persian Gulf has always been dependent on the continuous efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and therefore we ask the G7 members to end the intrusive and unsafe activities in this important waterway and other waterways in the region," he highlighted.
Commenting on the West's claims that Iran supplied Russia with drones, Kanaani reiterated that Iran will not side in the war, denying all claims that Tehran has provided Moscow with weapons to be used in Ukraine.
This comes shortly after Iran sharply denounced an accusation levied by the Group of Seven advanced nations' finance chiefs, urging them to halt their role in unlawful US sanctions rather than making "baseless" claims against Tehran.
Last month, Iran criticized the G7 alliance for spreading allegations against the country's nuclear program and activities in the region as it suggested the group take a more realistic approach in its dealings, one that entails mutual respect.
It illustrated the accusations as “baseless and interventionist”, calling it the West’s way of enforcing its will on independent countries.
