'That's our maximum' admit Mbappe after PSG's Champions League exit
Paris Saint Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, comments on his team's recent loss to Bayern Munich leading to its exit from UEFA's Champions League.
Kylian Mbappe noted that Paris Saint-Germain had played to their 'maximum', despite their loss to German football giant Bayern Munich on Wednesday in the round of 16 in UEFA's Champions League.
PSG shows limits in yet another early Champions League exit and Kylian Mbappe was not surprised. PSG, after trailing 1-0 from the first leg in Parc des Princes, were beaten 2-0 in the return game at Munich's Allianz Arena.
The Parisian team was eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 for the fifth time in the last 7 seasons.
"As I said at my first Champions League press conference this season, we were going to do our maximum. That's our maximum, that's the truth," Mbappe told reporters.
"What was PSG missing? Not much when you look at the two squads. They have a great squad, built to win the Champions League."
Despite PSG's Qatari owners spending a bunch during the transfer window, they are not questioning their decisions.
"We're going to question ourselves and then return to our daily life, the league," added Mbappe. "We have to move on... We lost against a great team, trying to win the tournament."
After Marquinhos' injury in minute 36, 24-year-old Mbappe wore the captain's armband.
