The Occupation Approves Plan to Separate Al-Quds Neighborhoods from Bethlehem
The occupation approves a settlement plan that aims to cut off the geographical connection between the governorates of al-Quds and Bethlehem, tightening control over al-Quds.
The so-called “Local Planning Committee” of the Israeli occupation municipality in the occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) approved today, Wednesday, a decision to seize areas of citizens’ lands south of al-Quds, with an aim to build public buildings and roads.
The Governor of al-Quds, Adnan Ghaith, told WAFA that this settlement plan aims to cut off the geographical connection between the governorates of al-Quds and Bethlehem and to tighten the control over al-Quds by isolating it from its surroundings.
He added that the occupation authorities seek to besiege al-Quds with a belt of settlements and include a number of them within the border of the occupation municipality. The authorities attempt to remove some villages and neighborhoods inhabited by Palestinian citizens outside the municipal boundaries and to bring about a change in the demographic and geographic structure of the city.
Ghaith clarified that the occupation authorities seek to impose its conditions as if a fait accompli, without any consideration for international law.
He reiterated by saying that such continuous Israeli practices against the Palestinians and their sanctities in al-Quds and all the governorates of the homeland would not have happened were it not for international silence.
