The Washington Post: Trump Supporters Appointed in Key Positions
Former US President Donald Trump's allies are putting effort to appoint supporters in key electoral roles under the pretext of making the "elections more secure."
The US newspaper The Washington Post said the allies of former President Donald Trump are working on appointing the latter's supporters in the country's key electoral positions.
According to the newspaper, the issue is raising concerns and challenges about future elections.
In Michigan, Republican Party leaders are aiming to change the election canvassing boards by appointing members who supported Trump's false claims about the 2020 "rigged" elections.
Similarly, two candidates who made allegations of election fraud won races in November to become local voting judges and inspectors in Pennsylvania, reported The Washington Post.
The newspaper said that if the campaign succeeds, "Trump and his allies could pull down some of the guardrails that prevented him (Trump) from overturning Biden’s win by creating openings to challenge the results next time" under the pretext of making the "elections more secure."
In an interview for the New York Times, NY Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez warned that Democrats may face problems if they do not keep the promises they made to voters.
"The talking points are not enough," she added.
"You've got to give me something to work with, with my communities. And if you're not, how can I make the argument that they should turn out again?"
Shortly after the results of the presidential elections were released, Trump claimed they were "rigged".
Democrat Joe Biden won the presidential election after receiving 306 votes against Trump's 232 in the Electoral College that determines the winner of the election.
