According to a Canadian MP, Canada has been stockpiling weaponry supplied by the United States as it struggles to meet its pledge to contribute hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine.
On Friday, Yvan Baker, chair of the Canada-Ukraine parliamentary friendship group, told Ukraina.ua news station that the Canadian armed forces had a restricted arsenal and a small military budget.
Since February, Canada has provided Ukraine with heavy equipment worth $200 million, and it has recently approved an additional $400 million in military support. Baker stated that the costs were enormous.
Russian Ambassador Oleg Stepanov has chastised Canada for taking the most harmful approach to the Ukrainian issue. He claimed that supplying heavy weaponry to Ukraine was merely adding fuel to the fire.
The US has recently given more than $40 billion in aid to Ukraine, according to US reports.
