Trump, Biden shown as tied in 2024 presidential race: Poll
The new poll demonstrates that each candidate had the support of 44% of registered voters, marking a change from a similar poll last month in which Biden garnered 47% support and Trump had 41%.
A new YouGov and Yahoo News poll released on Tuesday shows US President Joe Biden’s marginal lead over former US President Donald Trump is no longer giving him a sure win for the 2024 presidential race, due to a predicted tie.
The poll demonstrated that each candidate had the support of 44% of registered voters, marking a change from a similar poll last month in which Biden garnered 47% support and Trump had 41%.
7% of registered voters claimed to be undecided, while 4% did not wish to vote and relive the 2020 elections.
On the other hand, merely 27% of voters believed Biden was “fit to serve another term as president,” while 77% saw his age as a problem. Around 47% of Americans believe he and his family are corrupt, while only 34% approve of his handling of the country’s economy.

With that being said, Biden's advisors say that the current economic situation will be a bonus for the president’s reelection campaign, referring to record-low unemployment numbers and easing inflation.
Earlier this month, a recent poll by the Wall Street Journal found that around 46% of voters are expected to vote for Biden, with an equal share of voters for Trump, if the presidential election candidates were between the current president and his predecessor. Away from the supporters, around 8% voted undecided, according to the survey.
Most of those polled mentioned Biden's old age, while Trump's main issue was his conduct.
Backtracking for votes
Trump recently toned down his rhetoric regarding abortion, by calling Florida’s fresh six-week abortion ban “a terrible thing” in an interview with local media, which led to criticism from multiple conservative figures.
Talking to the media on Wednesday, a senior Biden advisor said, "We don't take the ups and downs of individual polls to heart," noting that the president’s political acumen is always underrated. "What will matter next year is when our voters are fully engaged."
This poll comes as two other polls this week from Emerson and Morning Consult were released, showing a tied contest. One average of polls from several firms demonstrated Trump with a 0.5% lead over Biden in voter preference.
Although there are voters who would vote for either candidate, surveys consistently prove that both are seen as unfavorable by more than half of the voting public.

The last time that was shown was since the 2016 election when polls saw both Trump and then-candidate Hillary Clinton were unfavorably perceived by more than 50% of Americans.
Despite that, polling over the last 20 years showed that 55% of Americans believe a third major party is needed.
