Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, delivered a strongly worded speech on Saturday, condemning recent remarks made by US President Donald Trump and rejecting Washington’s influence in the region.

The comments came during a meeting with thousands of Iranian teachers marking Teachers Day and the martyrdom anniversary of Ayatollah Mortaza Motahhari.

Trump’s model for Arab 'undoubtedly a failed one'

Sayyed Khamenei dismissed Trump’s regional statements as unworthy of response.

“None of the statements made during the US President's visit to the region are worthy of a response at all,” he said, calling the remarks “so low” that they stand as a source of disgrace for both the speaker and the American people.

He specifically rejected the model Trump offered to Arab states, describing it as “undoubtedly a failed one.” He recalled Trump’s own admission that Arab states would not survive more than ten days without US support.

“It is the US that keeps them standing,” he quoted Trump as saying.

Sayyed Khamenei countered that the determination of the region’s peoples would eventually compel the United States to leave. “And it certainly will,” he added.

US accused of using power for massacres

The Iranian leader condemned the US for using its power not to bring peace but to escalate war and destruction across West Asia.

“Trump said he wanted to use power for peace; he lied,” Sayyed Khamenei said.

“American officials used power to massacre Gaza, to foment war wherever they could, to support their own mercenaries.”

He also condemned the US for supplying the Zionist regime with heavy bombs used in attacks on civilians.

“They gave the Zionist regime ten-ton bombs to drop on the children of Gaza, on hospitals, on people’s homes, in Lebanon, and wherever they could,” he said.

Power as a path to peace, security

Sayyed Khamenei emphasized Iran's intent to increase its national power, not for aggression, but as a means to ensure peace.

“Yes, power can be used for peace and security. That is why we will increase the power of our country every day, God willing,” he stated.

He reiterated that the path to peace and dignity lies in regional independence and unity against foreign domination.

'Israel' a cancerous tumor

In the final part of his address, Sayyed Khamenei described the Zionist entity as “a dangerous cancerous tumor infecting the entire region."

“It must be uprooted, and it will be,” he asserted, holding the entity responsible for corruption, conflict, and war across the region.
