Trump vows to tackle homelessness, confront tech giants if re-elected
Of all US States, California is reputed for harboring the most extensive homeless population in the US.
Former President Donald Trump vowed on Friday that in the event of getting re-elected, he will deploy all available resources to alleviate homelessness in California and to rejuvenate public spaces for law-abiding, tax-paying citizens.
"As President, I will use all available powers to take the homeless... off your streets so that law-abiding citizens can once again enjoy the parks and public spaces for which they're paying a lot of money in tax," Trump said during the California Republican Party fall convention in Anaheim, CA on Friday.
Of all US States, California is reputed for harboring the most extensive homeless population in the US.
According to an analysis conducted by the Wisevoter advocacy group, this high homelessness rate in the state can be attributed to several factors, including its sizable population, elevated urban living expenses, substantial poverty rates, and a shortage of affordable housing.
California's warm climate, in combination with challenges related to mental health and substance abuse, exacerbates this predicament, the advocacy group noted.
Facing Tech Giants
On another note, the former President vowed to hold Silicon Valley Tech giants accountable for alleged censorship.
"We will make the Silicon Valley Tech tyrants answer for their illegal censorship," Trump said.
As reported in 2022, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Google faced allegations of irregular content moderation and censorship, leading to serious concerns regarding their influence on freedom of speech and their effects on public discourse.
Trump garnered widespread attention when social media platforms banned him due to his remarks made during the 2021 Capitol riots.
In retaliation, Trump launched Truth Social, a social media platform dedicated to upholding free expression and devoid of political ideology-driven censorship.
