Trump dominates Super Tuesday GOP primaries: US media projections
Trump's challenger, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, blocked him from a clean sweep of victories, winning the Republican party's primary election in Vermont.
US media networks projected that former US President Donald Trump won the first 12 primary elections, as results came in from the 15 Super Tuesday states in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia were all called by US media networks for Trump, who expressed thanks on his Truth Social site as counts continued in the other Super Tuesday states across the country.
Trump's Super Tuesday victories included Maine and Colorado, the two states alongside Illinois that had sought to keep him off the ballot over his push to overturn the 2020 election and the assault on the US Capitol that he was impeached for inciting.
The Supreme Court rejected the expulsion effort on Monday, clearing the path for Trump's participation in every state.
Trump described the results as "an amazing night" as he closes in on becoming the party's nominee.
"They call it 'Super Tuesday' for a reason," he told the crowd gathered at his Florida estate, adding, "This was an amazing night, an amazing day, it's been an incredible period of time in our country's history."
Voters in 16 states are out to cast their ballots for the primaries ahead of the US #PresidentialElection at the end of this year in one of the most important days in the run-up to the election.

"This is a big one. They tell me, the pundits and otherwise, that there has never been one like this, never been anything so conclusive," Trump further added.
His challenger, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, blocked him from a clean sweep of victories, winning the Republican party's primary election in Vermont. She also won the capital Washington at the weekend but is far behind Trump.
In the Democratic nomination contest, US President Biden won all of the 13 states to be called by US networks, though he was projected to lose to challenger Jason Palmer in the small Pacific Ocean territory of American Samoa.
