Former US President Donald Trump said that the former leader of al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, was not a "monster" and only carried out "one strike."

According to The Independent, Trump bragged in a radio interview last Thursday about how the US eliminated more "vicious terrorists" during his presidency which only lasted 4 years.

Trump mentioned that he would have bombed the Taliban "to hell" if they had violated the agreement, hinting that the movement would have never reached Kabul.

The former president's radio interview came after at least 95 people, including 13 American soldiers, were killed in 3 consecutive explosions outside Kabul Airport in Afghanistan before Thursday.

Last year, Trump reached an agreement with the Taliban to withdraw US forces from Afghanistan by May 2021 and release 5,000 Taliban prisoners.

In return, the Taliban pledged in the agreement that it will not allow Afghanistan to be a safe haven for terrorist groups, and that it will release 1,000 prisoners.

It is noteworthy that the Taliban has managed to control the Afghan capital, Kabul, less than two weeks after the start of the clashes between the movement and the Afghan forces. Meanwhile President Ashraf Ghani fled on a plane to the UAE and was followed by a number of officials. With the entry of Taliban fighters into Kabul, Western countries rushed to evacuate their diplomats and collaborators from the country.
