Turkish airstrikes pave way for land operation in northern Syria, Iraq

Yeni Safak contends that Turkey may have a plan for what is coming after its air operation on Syria and Iraq.

Turkey has carried out an air operation in northern Syria, which could be the first step toward a land operation, according to Turkish daily Yeni Safak. 

Kurdish Firat News Agency (ANF) reported that Ankara has once again carried out an air attack against the city of Ain al-Arab in northern Syria. 

The outcome of Turkish terrorist aggressions against north and eastern Syria until the moment:
1- Destroying the Corona Hospital in Kobane due to airstrikes.
2- Destroying the power station in Derik.
3- Destroying the grain silos in Dahir al-Arab, Zarkan.

Farhad Shami, the head of the media center of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said late Saturday night that Turkish aircraft were attacking Ain al-Arab.

Citing the Turkish Defense Ministry, Anadolu reported that an air operation against the YPG, which is the military wing of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), was being carried out in northern Syria and northern Iraq.

It was reported on Monday that 89 targets were destroyed during the airstrikes on Syria and Iraq - many PKK leaders were eliminated, according to Yeni Safak. The air operation, according to the newspaper, can be read as the first step toward a potential land operation in Syria. 

On Sunday, the Turkish army shelled several villages in the northern countryside of Aleppo and fired missile barrages at the positions of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Al-Malikiyah area, north of Al-Hasakah, and Ain Issa area, north of Al-Raqqa.

Turkish media reported that a Turkish soldier was killed and two others were wounded as a result of shelling that targeted a border crossing in Kilis Governorate on the Syrian border, and missiles targeted a Turkish base near Bab Al-Salamah crossing inside Turkish territory.
