Turkish minister slams US, 'Israel' for blocking ceasefire in Gaza
Turkiye's Justice Minister criticized the US support for the occupation's genocide in Gaza and the international community's failure to prevent further aggression
Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc denounced the US and "Israel" for blocking a ceasefire deal in Gaza, allowing the occupation to continue its ongoing genocide.
The minister also criticized the international community's failure to halt the 10-month Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip where over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed.
The politician rebuked Washington's support for the Israeli occupation, referring to the standing ovation Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received from most members of the US Congress after delivering a speech recounting the occupation's genocidal war on Gaza.
“The members of that Congress, by applauding, declared to the world their complicity in crimes of genocide. We witnessed a dark stain in world history,” Tunc said.
He also condemned "Israel's" violation of over a hundred UN resolutions within the last century, and censured the global community's lack of enforcement, especially the UN Security Council.
Tunc reiterates support for Palestine
The justice minister reiterated Turkiye's unwavering support for Palestine through diplomacy and humanitarian aid.
Tunc highlighted the need for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the occupation's war crimes, and for the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to address these Geneva Convention violations.
The minister's statements precede the gala screening of a documentary entitled "14 Days of Horror" about the al-Shifa Hospital, which the minister highlighted was destroyed by the IOF before the eyes of the world.
Turkiye submits official request to join ICJ 'Israel' case
Turkiye's Foreign Ministry announced on August 7 that it has submitted an official request to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Hague to join South Africa's genocide complaint against 'Israel' over its onslaught in Gaza.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan confirmed the official request on Wednesday, posting on X that "The international community must do its part to stop the genocide and exert the necessary pressure on Israel and its supporters."
"Turkey will make every effort to do so," Fidan added.
In May, Fidan announced in a joint press conference with Indonesia's Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in Ankara, that Turkiye intends to participate in South Africa's case against "Israel" for genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
"Upon completion of the legal text of our work, we will submit the declaration of official intervention before the ICJ with the objective of implementing this political decision," Fidan added.
"Turkey will continue to support the Palestinian people in all circumstances," he stressed.
