Turkish authorities confirmed on Wednesday that Ozturk Yilmaz, leader of the opposition Innovation Party, was attacked with a knife at his party's headquarters in the capital, Ankara.

Local media reported that an unidentified assailant attacked Yilmaz with a knife in his office in Ankara before fleeing the scene.

According to the media, the opposition leader was injured in the attack and lost a significant amount of blood.

Yilmaz has been hospitalized at an Ankara hospital, and the Turkish authorities immediately opened an investigation into the attack, the media said.
