Two Palestinians, including detainee, succumb to wounds by IOF gunfire

A Palestinian youth was martyred on Sunday after succumbing to injuries sustained from Israeli occupation forces' gunfire in Jenin during the occupation's aggression on the West Bank city and its refugee camp last week, the Palestinian WAFA news agency reported.

Wissam Bakr, director of Jenin Governmental Hospital, identified the martyr as 36-year-old Subh Ahmad Subhi al-Baz.

WAFA recalled that the Israeli occupation forces shelled a vehicle in Jenin's eastern neighborhood last Tuesday, killing five Palestinian youths and injuring six others, including al-Baz.

The news agency noted that Palestinian youths Walid Hussein, 33, and Khader Abu Qatna, 33, were also killed, with their bodies still withheld by the Israeli occupation forces.

34-year-old Palestinian detainee martyred in Israeli hospital

In a related development, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society announced Sunday the martyrdom of 34-year-old detainee Kifah Issam Dabaya, from the town of Kafr Dan in Jenin, at the Israeli Rambam Hospital.

In a joint statement, the two prisoners' affairs authorities confirmed that Dabaya succumbed to injuries sustained from Israeli occupation forces' gunfire before his detainment on August 6, along with two other wounded youths Jihad Hussein and Ahmad Farahti, during the Israeli assault on Jenin and its refugee camp.

The statement clarified that the latest information that was received about Dabaya's situation was the confirmation of his detention at Rambam Hospital, with the Israeli occupation authorities withholding details regarding his medical condition since his detainment.

The two authorities underscored that the crime of shooting Dabaya during the latest incursion into Jenin adds to the unprecedented and ongoing crimes committed by the Israeli occupation since the beginning of the genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The statement also highlighted that for more than three years, the Israeli occupation has intensified field executions during detainment campaigns in the occupied West Bank, including the detainment of dozens of wounded individuals.

According to the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society, these campaigns have reached their peak since the onset of the genocide in Gaza, which has included the execution of dozens of Gaza detainees and the detainment of many wounded.

The statement added that the Israeli practices are accompanied by ongoing detention of wounded individuals from the occupied West Bank, whether detained after some time or immediately upon being injured.

The prisoners' affairs authorities held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for Dabaya's martyrdom, pointing out that with the latest announcement, the number of martyrs among prisoners and detainees has now risen to 22 since the start of the genocide in Gaza.

They noted that this number includes only those whose identities have been revealed, as the occupation continues to conceal the identities of dozens of martyrs among detainees from Gaza.

With Dabaya's death, the number of Palestinians martyred in Israeli occupation prisons has risen to 259 since 1967, the statement concluded.

With al-Baz and Dabaya's martyrdom, the number of Palestinians killed in the occupied West Bank since October 7, 2023, has risen to 622, including 145 children and nine women.
