Two Sudanese Killed in Protests
The Sudanese Doctors Committee announced that two protesters were shot dead by troops in Omdurman after tens of thousands of Sudanese took to the streets against the coup.
On Saturday, two protesters were shot dead during a demonstration held in the city of Omdurman, near Khartoum, as the Sudanese Military Council forces opened fire, according to the country's Central Medical Committee.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of people took to the streets in Sudan's most populous city in protest of the recent coup d'etat in the country, which included the detention of several key leaders and the dissolution of the government.
The Medical Committee's statement said that "two protesters died in Omdurman, a suburb of Khartoum, as a result of the firing by the military committee militias during the October 30 demonstration of millions against the decisions of the Sudanese Army Commander."

Thousands of people took to the streets last week in protest against General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan's overthrow of the government of Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, in a move that prompted Western countries to freeze hundreds of millions in aid.
In the center of Khartoum, armed forces were heavily deployed, including soldiers from the army and fighters from the Rapid Support Forces militia. The security forces closed the roads leading to the Ministry of Defense compound and the airport, as well as most of the bridges linking Khartoum with the cities of Omdurman and al-Khartoum Bahri.
