UAE Welcomes Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and His Family
After leaving Afghanistan for Tajikistan last Sunday, the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the arrival of President Ashraf Ghani and his family in the UAE.
The UAE Foreign Affairs Ministry announced that President Ashraf Ghani and his family are in the UAE, clarifying in a statement that they have "welcomed President Ashraf Ghani and his family into the country on humanitarian grounds."

A source from the Afghan Presidency had announced on Sunday that President Ashraf Ghani agreed to resign in light of the crisis in the country.
A senior Ministry of Interior official also told Reuters, "Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has left the capital Kabul for Tajikistan," and this was confirmed by former Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah.
"Taliban" leaders announced that they have seized control of the Afghan Presidential Palace in Kabul on Sunday after President Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan. This happened after a "Taliban" delegation arrived at the Presidential Palace to hold talks with the Afghan President on the transfer of power.
