UK Labour Party concerned over Muslim detest towards it
Starmer shows concern as Muslim disapproval of his party's stance on the Israeli genocide against Gaza increases.
Last Tuesday, Labour chief Keir Starmer headed a delegation to the Cabinet Office for private talks with Cabinet Office Secretary Simon Case for a rundown of his security after weeks of fierce and intense protests against his party's stance on the Israeli genocide against Gaza.
Some of the officials attending the meeting were Oliver Dowden, the deputy prime minister, Tom Tugendhat, the security minister, and officers from the Joint Intelligence Committee, comprised of MI5, MI6, and GCHQ.
Pro-Palestine protestors in London and their constituencies have pushed Starmer to communicate concern over the MPs' well-being as major anger has been directed at the party's frontbencher due to its stance.
Recent events have indicated that the Muslim community detests Starmer, and this position is unlikely to cease as long as "Israel" continues its genocide against Gaza. George Galloway's triumph by 12,335 votes is the latest indication of the community's disapproval of the Labour Party.
Bridget Phillipson, the shadow education secretary, informed Times Radio on Sunday that Labour must “win back the trust” of people in Rochdale. “I deeply regret that we were not able to field a candidate in Rochdale, and I’m very sorry that’s the position we ended up in,” she said.
“What matters now, in the approach to the general election, is that we select a candidate in Rochdale who can win back the trust of people there. And I’m concerned that in the months ahead we will see attempts made to stoke division and create division within that community. I’m determined that the Labour candidate we select for Rochdale at the election will bring the whole community together once more,” she added.
Galloway's win, Labour Party's biggest loss
Former Labour MP George Galloway secured the position of lawmaker for the English town of Rochdale on March 1.
Galloway secured an impressive victory with 12,335 votes - 39.7% of the total - surpassing predictions and establishing a significant 5,697-vote majority.
He surpassed the second-placed independent candidate David Tully, while the former Labour candidate, Azhar Ali, came in fourth after losing support from the opposition party over accusations against "Israel".
"[Labout Party leader] Keir Starmer, this is for Gaza," he said in his victory speech. During his campaign, Galloway criticized both Labour and the Conservatives for their support of the Israeli occupation entity in its war on Gaza.
Galloway's victory marks the inaugural representation of his left-wing Workers Party of Britain in parliament.
"Labour is on notice that they have lost the confidence of millions of their voters who loyally and traditionally voted for them generation after generation," he said following his victory.
