Ukraine is plotting a provocation to undermine a United Nations proposal to restart ammonia transit via the Tolyatti-Odesa pipeline, according to a military-diplomatic source cited by Sputnik on Sunday.

"According to information confirmed via several channels, the Kiev regime plans a high-profile provocation aimed at disruption of the UN initiative to resume the transit of ammonia via the Tolyatti-Odesa pipeline," the source said.

Moreover, according to the source, Ukraine is planning to blow up ammonia storage facilities at the Odesa Portside Plant, as a false flag to blame Russia for an alleged "missile attack."

The source explained "The provocation has been planned and is carried out under the control of the UK special services stationed in Odesa," adding "Members of Canada’s private military company GardaWorld, who are responsible for the security of port infrastructure in the Odesa region under the contract with the administration of Ukrainian seaports, are also participating in the implementation of this provocation."

The provocation's major objective, according to the source, is the same as the motive behind the disruption of the Nord Stream pipelines in September, which was to stop Russia from exporting its resources to other nations.

The planned destruction of Odesa's ammonia storage facilities, according to the source, would gradually increase the price of ammonia on the global market, which would be advantageous for shipments of ammonia from the UK and the US to Europe and developing countries amid rising energy costs.

The world's longest ammonia pipeline, which was constructed in 1981, runs from Tolyatti to Odesa. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the pipeline has been shut down.

The initial package deal on grains and fertilizers reached on July 22 in Istanbul between Russia, the UN, and Ukraine included unrestricted shipments of Russian ammonia.
