Ukraine regulator announces end of nuclear safety agreements
Ukraine has terminated two nuclear safety agreements with Russia, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine announced on Monday.
In a statement on social media, the Ministry stated that "the state regulatory inspectorate terminates a number of agreements with Russia in the field of nuclear security."
The documents in question are the agreement on cooperation between Ukraine's Ministry of Environmental Protection and Nuclear Safety and Russia's Federal Supervision for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, signed in Vienna on September 19, 1996, and the agreement between Ukraine's State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate and Russia's Federal Supervision for Nuclear and Radiation Safety on the exchange of information and cooperation in the field of safety regulation when using nuclear energy for power generation.
