Ukraine shells Rubizhne, Lugansk, using US-made HIMARS
Ukrainian forces continue to shell the LPR even after its accession to the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian forces have bombed Rubizhne, Lugansk, using the US-supplied High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), according to the Lugansk People's Republic's (LPR) mission to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination on the ceasefire regime (JCCC).
"Shelling was recorded from the side of the armed formations of Ukraine: 01.30 [22:00 GMT on Sunday] at Rubizne, using the HIMARS multiple rocket launcher (one missile)," said the LPR mission on Monday.
Details regarding casualties or damages are being verified, LPR authorities added.
Ukrainian troops after Friday midnight shelled Ilovaisk, Donetsk, using HIMARS, according to the Donetsk People's Republic's mission to the JCCC.
Lugansk is one of the four regions which recently acceded to Russia by popular referendum.
Ukraine's 'hot targets': A Kindergarten
On Sunday, the LPR's law enforcement agencies apprehended a "reconnaissance and sabotage group" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces plotting "terrorist attacks" on the region's frontlines.
The group's objective was to target "civilian infrastructure," such as kindergartens. Local law enforcement personnel are still investigating the scheme and identifying other potential individuals, according to the MGB.
The security service also published a video clearly showing one of the cell's detained members admitting the unit was ordered to mine a bridge and "some facilities" that "turned out to be kindergartens."
Meanwhile, officials in Kherson Region, which borders Crimea, stated that a terrorist attack on a local administration office had been foiled. According to Kherson's emergency services, the local security forces "discovered and defused an improvised shrapnel-filled explosive device" with a yield comparable to about 1kg of TNT. The local authorities provided no more information regarding the incident.
