British Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed his chief of staff Steve Barclay as his next Health Minister after Sajid Javid resigned earlier on Tuesday, according to Sky News.

Earlier today, Javid resigned after the scandal undermined Johnson's leadership and credibility as a prime minister.

"It is clear to me that this situation will not change under your leadership -- and you have therefore lost my confidence too," Javid wrote in his resignation letter.

In conjunction, British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak announced his resignation from Boris Johnson's government. This comes just after Johnson faced criticism for his handling of a sleaze scandal involving another colleague.

"The public rightly expect government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously," Sunak wrote in his resignation letter. "I recognise this may be my last ministerial job, but I believe these standards are worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning."

It is worth mentioning that in April, the British Justice minister, David Wolfson, lodged his resignation, expecting his move to reignite questions regarding Johnson's premiership.

With Johnson's series of horrendous scandals and law-breaking record during the COVID-19 lockdown, conservatives and labor members alike have been calling on the PM to step down, questioning his leadership. Earlier in February, Conservative members of the parliament, even loyalists, demanded that the PM be removed from his position if investigations reveal he committed a criminal offense. Nevertheless, Johnson is in denial that he has broken any law.
