UN Syria envoy calls for 'immediate ceasefire' in Gaza, Lebanon
The UN special envoy for Syria says ending fighting in Lebanon and Gaza is "extremely critical".
The UN special envoy for Syria said on Sunday that ending the fighting in Lebanon and Gaza is "extremely critical" to prevent Syria from being drawn into a regional war.
Ahead of a meeting with the Syrian Foreign Minister in Damascus, Geir Otto Pedersen said, "We need now to make sure that we have immediately a ceasefire in Gaza, that we have a ceasefire in Lebanon, and that we avoid Syria being dragged even further into the conflict."
Since the Israeli occupation escalated its strikes on Lebanon, fueling a full-scale war, the Israeli military has intensified its strikes on targets in Syria following nearly a year of cross-border attacks.
'Israel' commits massacre in Syria's Tadmor
In one of its deadliest attacks on the country, "Israel" carried out an aggression on Syria on November 20, this time targeting Tadmor, mainly striking residential buildings and resulting in scores of fatalities and injuries.
At least 36 people were killed and 50 others were injured as the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression from the direction of the al-Tanf area, targeting several buildings in the city of Tadmor in the Syrian desert, a military source revealed.
"At approximately 1:30 pm today, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial attack from the direction of the al-Tanf area, targeting several buildings in the city of Palmyra in the Syrian desert, which led to the martyrdom of 36 people, the injury of more than 50 others, and massive material damage to the targeted buildings and the surrounding area," the source said.
