Gaza’s Ministry of Interior warned residents on Wednesday that the US-backed aid organization, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, is operating as a security and intelligence front under the guise of humanitarian work. The ministry urged Palestinians not to provide any personal data, photos, or information requested by the group.
According to the ministry, the organization’s “new system” for aid distribution is a cover for intelligence-gathering operations. It accused the group of “practicing a security and intelligence role under the guise of humanitarian work and providing assistance.”
The ministry specifically accused the GHF of recruiting Palestinians to cooperate with the occupation’s security services and aligning with “Israel’s” starvation engineering policy. It called on citizens to reject participation in the program, even if presented as a means of receiving aid.
GHF's new system
The GHF announced earlier this week the launch of “a new system” to distribute aid, requiring families to pre-register, provide personal data, and have their photo taken for an ID card with a unique number.
The system began on Sunday in the Saudi neighborhood of Gaza City, with around 350 participants. Those who refuse to participate are left to line up at distribution points under chaotic and unsafe conditions.
It is worth noting that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation was the only mechanism permitted in Gaza following months of international pressure. So far, 2,018 Palestinians have been killed and over 14,947 injured at aid sites and near them.
There are four GHF sites located in southern Gaza, which open for ten minutes each day. After they close, soldiers open fire at Palestinians still at the site, although no danger is posed. Over the past 24 hours alone, 22 were martyred and 49 were wounded.
