US DoD: 90% of Howitzers pledged by US are in Ukraine
A US Department official says there is no indication that Western military supplies for Ukraine have been impeded.
A senior US Defense Department official said that more than 90% of the 90 howitzers that were pledged to Kiev are now in Ukrainian hands.
"I can tell you that more than 90% of the 90 howitzers that were pledged to Ukraine in the last two presidential drawdown authorities are actually in Ukrainian hands," the official said.
The Department of Defense had said on Monday that 80% of the M777 howitzers allocated to Ukraine, meaning more than 70 out of 90, were transferred.
Moreover, all the radars committed to Ukraine, in addition to 5,000 Javelin missiles have also been transferred.
The DoD official further noted that the US has seen no indications that any Western military supplies destined for Ukraine were impeded or struck.
"We've seen no indications that any of this Western aid has been impeded, or even struck. We just don't have any evidence of that happening," the official told a briefing.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu stressed on Wednesday that NATO vehicles transporting weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be considered a legitimate target for destruction.
"The United States and NATO allies continue to flood Ukraine with weapons. I would like to point out that we view all NATO vehicles that arrive in the country carrying weapons and supplies for the Ukrainian Armed Forces as legitimate military targets," Shoigu affirmed during a video conference.
