Israeli newspaper Maariv published data collected by the Israeli Lazar Institute for research, showing that 49% of Israelis believe that the “ground entry into the Gaza Strip should be delayed.”
The Institute posed the question: "Do you think that the Israeli army should immediately engage in a large-scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip, or is it correct to wait for the decision?"
According to the data, 49% of Israeli settlers answered that delaying the ground invasion was the proper thing to do, while 29% believed that there was an urgent need to conduct a ground invasion of the Strip.
On Thursday, the Israeli military was forewarned by Major General Hossein Salami, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), that a ground attack in Gaza would destroy its infantry.
"There is no way for the enemies to win in Palestine and they can do nothing else but aerial bombing. If they do anything on the ground, the Gaza dragon will eat them alive," the IRGC Commander said on Thursday, during a ceremony in Mashhad, stressing that Gaza will be "Israel's graveyard".
He then warned that the Israelis and their Western supporters would eventually face the anger of Muslims, saying that Western powers are fully assisting the Israeli occupation in carrying out its atrocities in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The head of the IRGC affirmed that the US turned the entire Muslim world against them and that animosity is growing every day, denouncing Washington's strategy of escalation.
Salami persisted in advising the United States to force the Israeli entity to end its aggression before it is too late.
'Israel' delays ground invasion as US readies for blowback: WSJ
"Israel's" ground invasion of the Gaza Strip will be delayed to give the United States the chance to transfer additional air defense systems into the Middle East, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.
The US Department of State had previously stated that it would be transferring air defense assets to the Middle East to protect its troops and assets in the region.
WSJ says the US will deploy 12 air defense systems to counter attacks on its troops in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Furthermore, concerned Israeli officials have agreed to delay an expected ground invasion of the Gaza Strip until the air defense systems are set up as early as later this week.
Unnamed US officials told the newspaper that the US expects its troops and bases to be attacked by several groups in the region when the ground invasion ensues.
"Israel" is also said to be taking this opportunity to retrieve some of the captives held by the Resistance in Gaza in exchange for humanitarian aid, which it has blocked off more than 2 million people for more than two weeks.
