US military buildup continues in Europe as further troops land in Poland
Poland announces the arrival of advanced US forces to the country amid the escalating crisis in Ukraine.
Poland announced that an advanced group of additional US forces, which the administration of US President Joe Biden recently decided to deploy to Eastern Europe, have arrived in the country.
The Polish Ministry of Defense confirmed on its Twitter account Friday that preparations are underway to receive the basic forces within a brigade-sized combat group of the US 82nd Airborne Division.
The ministry stressed that this deployment sends "a strong signal of solidarity in response to escalation tensions in Ukraine."

Last Wednesday, the United States announced the deployment of additional US troops in Eastern Europe, including about 1,000 soldiers who will be transferred from Germany to Romania, and about 2,000 soldiers to be deployed in Germany and Poland, against the backdrop of the current escalation between Russia and NATO over Ukraine.
Russia had talks with the US and NATO in Geneva over each other's security concerns, and Russia sees that its demands have been ignored.
Russia condemned this decision, warning that it exacerbates the already escalating military tensions in Europe.
Russia insists that it has no intention of attacking any country, and the Kremlin sees the Western accusations as a pretext to deploy more NATO military equipment close to Russia's borders.
