A senior American official told ABC News that at least nine Iranian missiles penetrated Israeli air defenses and hit two Israeli air bases.

He added that five ballistic missiles hit the Nevatim Air Base, causing damage to a C-130 transport plane, a runway, and storage facilities.

The official said that four additional ballistic missiles hit the Nevatim Air Base.

The I-R-G-C launched a monumental operation late Saturday, targeting the Israeli occupation with dozens of missiles and drones in retaliation to "Israel's" attack on Iran's consulate in #Damascus two weeks ago.

Described as "unprecedented", by a Sky News correspondent, the IRGC's Aerospace Force announced that the operation dubbed "True Promise" was launched in the context of "punishing the criminal Zionist regime."

The force said that the operation came "in response to the numerous evil crimes of the Zionist regime," including the attack on the embassy. It said that its forces, supported by other units of the Iranian Armed Forces, launched the "wide-ranging" military operation.
