US Official: Revival of the JCPOA Still Viable
A senior US official says Washington is still interested in resuming nuclear talks with Iran, warning that the door for this opportunity will not remain open.
A senior US official revealed on Thursday that the opportunity still stands for the revival of the Iranian nuclear deal, but Tehran has not yet set a date for the resumption of talks.
He also added that Washington is still interested in the talks, and the opportunity remains open, but will not remain so forever.
The official also stressed that the US regrets that Iran has not given any signals regarding the resumption of the nuclear talks, noting that all P5+1 members have expressed the need to resume the Vienna talks as soon as possible and pick up where they were left off.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Saeed Khatibzadeh, had stressed last Tuesday that the Vienna talks will again be resumed within the next few weeks, noting that the P4+1 countries have been briefed on this matter.
It is worth noting that six rounds of talks were conducted between Iran and the P4+1 group, comprising France, the UK, Russia, China, and Germany, between April and June 2021, in an attempt to revive the nuclear deal.
