US sends more military equipment to Ain Al-Asad base in Anbar
A local Iraqi source said that under tight security measures, two US cargo planes loaded with military equipment accessed the Ain Al-Asad base.
According to a local Iraqi security source, the US Army has dispatched new military equipment to Ain Al-Asad airbase in Al-Anbar province, Western Iraq, Mehr news agency reported.
The source said that under tight security measures, two US cargo planes loaded with military equipment accessed the Ain Al-Asad base.
It added that the transfer of the new military shipment to the flagship US base occurred despite the bad weather conditions resulting from a severe dust storm that hit Iraq on Wednesday.
Usually, the US convoys that bring logistics equipment for US troops enter Iraq through the shared Kuwaiti border, and Americans use Iraqi transport companies for security reasons, particularly to avoid roadside bombs.
Roadside bombs and attacks have been targeting US bases and logistics convoys in Iraq and Syria, and they are carried out by groups opposing their occupation and presence in the country.
According to the military spokesperson for Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades Jaafar Al-Husseini, the goal behind the military presence in Al-Anbar Governorate is the prevention of there being any security gaps and countering ISIS.
He also accused the United States of facilitating the movement of terrorists on the borders despite Washington's claims that its presence is to fight the terrorist organization.
