Venezuela is a beacon of freedom and dignity that has led the liberation movement in Latin America, Venezuela’s Ambassador to Lebanon, José Biomorgi, said, adding that whenever a president emerges to dedicate the nation’s wealth to serving its people, they become the target of attacks, coups, and hostile threats.
Speaking with Al Mayadeen, Biomorgi noted that Venezuela is currently a victim of threats based on a hostile, inconsistent, and false narrative aimed at undermining the country's peace and stability. The Venezuelan ambassador to Lebanon, however, added, "I agree with the view that the United States will not wage a war against Venezuela, but we have learned that we must prepare for the worst-case scenario."
Ambassador Biomorgi stated that any action taken by Washington is economically motivated, resorting to pretexts like terrorism and drugs to seize control of resources. He added that Venezuela's Bolivarian diplomacy is one of peace, posing no threat to anyone, yet Washington continues to seek ways to aggress against the nation and the president.
US trying to sabotage Venezuela while forgetting its own issues
He said that Washington attempted to sabotage Venezuela's economy to turn the population against the Bolivarian government, but Caracas had implemented decisions since 2021 that successfully thwarted that endeavor, further explaining that the nation's economy is not solely dependent on oil. This has allowed it to achieve economic growth over several consecutive years.
Biomorgi told Al Mayadeen that his country possesses resources that Washington is actively seeking, even as the US flounders in a deep economic, social, and existential crisis, a situation that has made it a dangerous actor on the world stage. He stated that while Venezuela has strong allies, the country relies primarily on itself, producing 97% of what it consumes and even exporting food goods.
According to the Venezuelan envoy, the US announcement of a reward for information leading to President Maduro, as well as the Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministers, represents an incentive to assassinate the president.
He further stated that Venezuela's sovereignty is non-negotiable and that the nation is prepared to defend its land and people against any external threat. While affirming that Caracas is hostile toward no one and remains open to dialogue, the ambassador firmly stated that it will not accept any foreign power imposing its will.
Biomorgi concluded that geopolitical changes represent a danger to many countries, especially independent ones like Venezuela, asserting, however, that its current political situation is better than before.
